Who are you
Our Head of Engineering is someone who can operate at both a strategic level and be hands-on with people and process management. As the Head of Engineering, you must have a strong ability in team management and delivery management.
Reporting directly to the Co-founder and CPO, you will be responsible for the engineering team’s performance, delivery timeline and system stability. You will be the thought partner with the CPO to build a stable and scalable product.
What you'll do
- Lead the overall engineering strategy and vision of the company, driving technical innovation and implementing best practices
- Manage a team of talented engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure their growth and success
- Create and maintain a stable and scalable system architecture
- Create better delivery process
- Hands-on coding and code review
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to define and prioritize engineering projects and requirements
- Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable and robust software solutions, ensuring high-quality code and timely delivery
- Build and maintain a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and make informed decisions on technology selection and implementation
- Manage relationships with external technology partners and vendors
- Attract and recruit top engineering talent and building a diverse and inclusive team
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a solid understanding of software development practices, architecture, and methodologies
- At least 3 years as engineering manager or above position
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced startup or tech company
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and strategically
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong ability to execute and think strategically, building systems that can be scaled.
- Strong ability to execute with cross-countries team and manage across timezones
- Experience with web and mobile application development, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure
- A self-starter and are solution oriented. You try to find problems and own the process of solving them.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Ruby on Rails (front/backend)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with a front-end framework like Vue.js, Ember.js, or React.
- Passion for travel and a deep understanding of the travel industry is a plus
